To downshift the gears on a Bajaj Pulsar 200NS or any motorcycle with a manual transmission, follow these steps:
Gradually release the throttle: Before downshifting, ensure you gradually roll off the throttle or close it completely to allow the engine speed to decrease.
Squeeze the clutch lever: Pull in the clutch lever completely with your left hand. This disengages the engine power from the transmission, allowing you to change gears smoothly.
Downshift to the desired gear: While keeping the clutch lever pulled in, use your left foot to press down on the gear shift lever to shift down to the desired gear. Each click downwards represents a lower gear. For example, if you are in 4th gear, shifting down once will take you to 3rd gear.
Gradually release the clutch: Slowly release the clutch lever while simultaneously rolling on the throttle. As you release the clutch, the power from the engine will be gradually transferred to the transmission, and the bike will start moving in the selected lower gear.
It's important to practice and develop a smooth coordination between clutch control and throttle input to ensure seamless gear shifts. Additionally, remember to downshift when the engine speed is within the appropriate range for the desired gear, as abruptly downshifting at high speeds can cause the rear wheel to lock and lead to loss of control.
